Canada’s Immigration Minister says that the government is planning to make it easier for temporary workers to get permanent residency.
CBC reports that Fraser was given 120 days to develop a new program. The new program won’t be the same as TR to PR Pathway, says Minister Fraser.
More information on the program’s eligibility requirements and application process is planned in the coming months.
With Express Entry draws resuming in early July, Fraser’s declaration may hint to more loosened qualifying requirements. As Canada’s labour shortage worsens, the government is offering additional permanent residency alternatives for essential workers. So, the new Canadian immigration program may target a greater number of people with the potential to alleviate the country’s labour shortage.
