The world experienced a pandemic and just like other countries Canada is also struggling to fight the novel COVID-19. The constant hard work on the vaccination will make a world of difference to the Canadian immigration in 2021.

The Prime Minister Justin Trudeau buoys up the nation by saying:

“If all goes according to plan, we should be able to have the majority of Canadians vaccinated by September”

Trudeau’s statement chirps up the nation by assuring ‘herd’ immunity in Canada. Herd immunity is a condition in which the majority of the population is vaccinated and puts a stop to further spreading of it.

The experts suggest that the 50-90 percent of the Canadian population needs to be vaccinated or recovered from the virus to reach the point called Herd immunity. Gypsyamber D’Souza a renown professor of epidemiology at the Bloomberg School of Public Health says about the virus is:

“The more infectious a disease is, the higher the proportion of the population that has to be protected before we get to herd immunity,”

She further added:

“So, for coronavirus, we think that it’s probably around 70 percent of people that would need to have immunity before the rest of the group would be protected”

The stats for the recovered COVID-19 patients in Canada are 1.2 per cent of the population and have presumably got immuned to it. The vaccination programme is still under construction and we expect fast steps towards herd immunity. This will make Ottawa open borders and welcome more immigration to surge up the economy and tech sector.

McKenna writes regarding how immigrants are an asset to the state in the Magnetic North. He also writes how immigrants can bring more skills and are a ‘steadily growing crop’ to the STEM graduates and a thriving ecosystem of start-up companies. He also quotes:

“Foreign tech giants and emerging companies alike are building operations here to tap our talent in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, bioengineering and other fields. The federal Global Talent Stream program is bringing senior talent to Canada. This all suggests that Canada is on the right track.”

The Canadian provinces are too eager for immigration and it is visible. Even during the pandemic certain states had been extending invitations to potentials.

British Columbia

British Columbia’s provincial nominee programme issued 230 ITA (Invitation to apply) for permanent residency in December. However, they did exclude the applicant to apply to some jobs due to the rising COVID-19 risk. Resulting in 93 ITAs issued from the Tech Pilot Draw and 256 from the provincial one.

Central Canada

Ontario issued 19 ITAs through the Ontario Immigration Programme under the Entrepreneur Stream all in the same month. At the same time Quebec issues 233 ITAs using their Arrima Expression of Interest system.

Prairies

Saskatchewan immigration issued 576 ITAs across two stream Occupation in-demand and Express entry through a draw.

The interest on immgration surfaced later on when Canada had surpassed 100,000 ITAs for the year in its first three Express Entry draws consecutively. Another 102,350 ITAs were issued until December 9.

That is one heck of a remarkable performance when the world is blanketed in a pandemic. However, Canada wants to welcome more than 1.2 million new comers in the years 2021 and 2023.
