Canada has set a new record for the biggest Provincial Nominee Program Express Entry draw, with 1,070 Invitations to Apply being issued (ITAs).
The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for the February 2 draw was 674 points, which was 71 points lower than the previous PNP round.
The 1,036 ITAs granted in January 2022 were the previous high for a PNP draw.
In 2022, Canada has issued 2,498 invitations, all to PNP candidates.
In 2021, IRCC granted a total of 114,431 ITAs, all of which went to CEC and PNP candidates. It surpassed the previous high of 107,350, which was established in 2020.
IRCC has switched to draws for PNP and CEC candidates during the coronavirus crisis, focusing on candidates who are already in Canada on work or study permits.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is the primary pathway for economic-class skilled immigrants to enter Canada. Candidates who fit the requirements of an Express Entry program can register on the IRCC website and submit their profile.
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) assigns a score to candidates based on human capital factors including age, education, language skills, and work experience.
IRCC invites the highest-scoring individuals to apply for permanent residency every two weeks. After that, they have 60 days to file an application to IRCC for permanent residency.
An applicant obtains a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) whenever IRCC approves their application, allowing them to formally arrive in Canada as a permanent resident.
