10,000 Invitations in 2020 and 30,000 more in 2021! These are the quota set by IRCC for this year and next year’s Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP).
A lot of people are asking how does this process actually works. Well let me provide you the entire step by step process to help you prepare and get a higher chance of being invited to sponsor your parents and/or grandparents in 2020.
The first step is to submit an expression of Interest to sponsor your Parents and/or grandparents.
Potential sponsors will be able to submit their EOI online starting 12nn of October 13th up until the 3rd of November 2020. At this time, they have to fill out the “Sponsor your parents and grandparents: Interest to sponsor form”
Do you need help and guidance with the entire process to make sure that you don’t miss this opportunity to sponsor your parents and/or grandparents? Feel free to let us know by clicking the button below.
Here are some things you should follow to make sure you do not run into problems when sending your “Interest to Sponsor your parents and/or grandparents” in 2020.
1. Make sure that you are qualified before you start the application.
Below are the eligibility criteria:
A. You’re at least 18 years old
B. You live in Canada
C. You’re a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act
D. You have enough money to support the persons you want to sponsor. To show that you have enough, you’ll have to provide your proof of income. There are two options: Provide IRCC permission to get your tax information directly from CRA and Send IRCC the paper copies of your Notices of Assessment (beginning 2018 until 2020).
2. Do not submit the EOI form more than once as it will not increase your chances of being invited to apply and IRCC will remove any duplicate entries.
3. Make sure this information you put in the form is correct so double-check all the fields before you submit.
4. The information you put in the form must be the same as what you’ll put on your sponsorship application, if you’re invited to submit a complete application. If IRCC cannot match the information on your application with the information you put in the EOI form, they may not accept your sponsorship application.
5. Make sure that you sign the form by typing in your name before you submit the application. Failure to do so can cause you an invitation to apply for the sponsorship.

Now for the second step, you will receive an Invitation to apply if you are one of the 10,000 potential sponsors who will be selected by IRCC. A random selection process will be used to ensure that the process is fair and transparent and that all interested sponsors have an equal opportunity to submit an interest to sponsor form and an equal chance of being invited to apply.
As soon as the interest to sponsor period ends on the 3rd of November 2020, the online Interest to Sponsor form will be removed from the site. IRCC will then review all submissions, remove any duplicate entries and randomize the forms.
There will be 1 round of invitations to apply in 2020, with a maximum of 10,000 applications accepted for processing. In addition, you can not transfer your invitation to another sponsor.
Finally, the last step is for you to submit your Application for Sponsorship
If you are invited to apply, you will be given 60 days to submit your complete application. In case you cannot provide the required documentations within the time provided caused by the pandemic, IRCC may grant a 90-day extension.
The application process may be a lot confusing specially if you are not prepared and not confident in sending your expression of interest. In this case, we can be of big help.
