Quebec Self-Employed Worker Program is an ideal immigration program for newcomers coming to Canada who have expertise in starting their businesses. Under this program, selected self-employed persons can immigrate to Quebec and start their own business. To be considered for this program, an applicant must have assets worth at least CAD 100,000 and two years of experience as a self-employed worker in the area they intend to practice in Quebec.
Successful candidates will be allowed to come to Quebec to start their own business or practice a profession. When in effect, this program, like all of Quebec’s immigration paths, permits candidates to seek a Québec selection certificate called Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ). An applicant becomes qualified to submit an official application for permanent residency in Canada after getting a CSQ.

Trades and professions that are regulated
A candidate must fulfill all of the relevant license criteria to practice in Quebec if he is self-employed and conducts a regulated profession or trade. He must confirm that he is legally allowed to practice in Quebec by checking with the proper regulatory organizations. This Quebec immigration program is the same as the Federal Self-Employed Immigration program, with the exception that the Quebec program accepts applications from a a broader range of occupations. The Federal Self-Employed program is only open to people with cultural and sports experience.
The Selection Stage
The government of Québec or the immigration office in the applicant’s home country will conduct a preliminary examination to ensure that all of the applicant’s supporting papers have been delivered. This verifies that the application is comprehensive and that the applicant fulfills the program’s eligibility requirements. The candidate must proceed to the selection stage after successfully completing the preliminary assessment stage, which is the application procedure for the Quebec Selection Certificate (QSC) and their Canadian permanent residency visa.
Two-Step Selection Stage Process
Step 1. The candidate must apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate with the Quebec provincial government.
Step 2. The applicant must submit to the federal government for a review of their eligibility and a permanent resident visa after receiving the CSQ.
Both steps must be completed in the exact sequence listed above in order to be considered.
